Tom Wardle
Tom Wardle's Band
Tom Wardle is an 18 year old singer, songwriter and performer with an knack for catchy pop melodies and song craftmanship. His voice, sounding like a young Kelly Jones with undertones of Paul Weller, comes across as soulfully blues at its fullest and rawest, and sublimely smooth at it's most intricate. His songs draw influences from such bands as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Squeeze and the Stereophonics.
Since the dissolvement of Tom's first band, 8 Idle Hands, in March 2005, Tom has continued to gig around the country presenting shows with just himself, an acoustic guitar and a little bit of style. In December 2005, Tom recruited bass player Jo Gent and drummer Jo Manly to bring his acoustic songs to life and he now presents a full on, electric, rock and roll show.
At only 18 years old Tom has already been on the music scene for three years, having gigged his way from the school hall at 15 to a support slot with rock legends Slade at 16 years old, via the Nottingham Ice Arena, The Cavern Club, Liverpool, selling out the Northampton Roadmender at the Christmas special and supporting one of his idols, Mark Morriss of the Bluetones.
Along the way Tom has built up a loyal fan base and picked up years of experience which help him present shows, solo or with the band, like he does. Forget all those boring students who sit on a stool mumbling and whining into the microphone like it's the first time they've left their bedroom, this is a proper rock 'n' roll show with one purpose: to entertain!
Tom doesn't claim to be doing anything different in the world of new music ...just better.
